"Regardless of what the coming days bring, one thing is certain: Jackie’s story has changed the future. Millions of people around the world have followed Jackie’s life through the nest cameras. They celebrated her victories, worried through her challenges, and ultimately came together to help protect the place she calls home. That may become one of the most meaningful outcomes of her story. Raptors are more than magnificent birds -they are keystone species and important indicators of ecosystem health. By protecting habitat for Bald Eagles, we’re also protecting the forests, wetlands, streams, and countless other plants and animals that share these landscapes. Habitat loss and fragmentation remain among the greatest threats to wildlife. Without healthy, protected habitat, there would be no Bald Eagles soaring over Big Bear, no chicks hatching in towering Jeffrey pines, no wildlife rehabilitation centers working to return injured birds to the wild, and no nest cameras inspiring millions to care. One Bald Eagle inspired millions of people to protect the future of an entire ecosystem. The result is far bigger than one nest or one eagle: generations of Bald Eagles, and all the wildlife that depends on this landscape can continue to thrive.
