Mayor Jos Luis Martnez-Almeida of Madrid, Spain, welcomed the Bloomberg CityLab audience to his city to share how his administration has led ambitious reforms spanning mobility, climate action, sustainable tourism, and more. On stage with Telemadrids journalist Mara Fernndez Rey, the mayor explored where hes foundthe most opportunity and what other cities can learn from Madrids progress.

Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Aspen Institute brought mayors, policymakers, and urban innovators from around the world to Madrid for Bloomberg CityLab 2026 to strengthen global cooperation and share practical, city-led solutions to todays biggest challenges.

This years summit built on Bloomberg Philanthropies partnership with the City of Madrid under Mayor Jos Luis Martnez-Almeida and its growing work sir david attenborough to strengthen local government leadership and capacity across Europe.
