🔴 LIVE Cardinals vs. Royals CARDS TRY TO SNATCH GAME 3! - Play by Play & Reaction | Game 77 of 162 [A8OEvBESVdi]

On this Father's Day afternoon the St. Louis Cardinals (40-34) are taking on the Kansas City Royals (32-45), in an attempt to snatch the final game of this three game series at Kauffman Stadium. With the exception of Friday night's near comeback in the 9th, the Cardinals have not played well at all. With that in mind, the Redbirds are sending their hottest starter of late to the mound today. Taking the ball this afternoon for the Cardinals is none other than RHP Dustin May (5-6, 3.75 ERA), who over the last month has been one of the most impressive starting pitchers in baseball. In his last start against the San Diego Padres, May threw a complete game shutout, giving up but only a single hit, walking 1 and striking out 9. In May's last four starts over 27.2 IP, May has only allowed 4 earned runs. Without question, Dustin May is the Cardinals best starter right now. Though for May's start today, as well as each start going forward over the next six weeks, countless interested eyes will be watching Dustin May's performance very closely. While there is no certainty as to what Chaim Bloom will choose to do with May come the trade deadline, there are many interested parties who will likely bid for May's services in their quest to win in 2026. On the hill for the Kansas City Royals today is the 29 year old RHP Stephen Kolek (4-1, 2.68 ERA), who right now is riding a very successful stretch on the mound. Over Kolek's last three starts, he has thrown 19.1 IP and has only given up 3 earned runs in that time. Those 3 earned runs come in spite of the fact that he has given up 19 hits over that period, yet Kolek has only issued 4 walks. Long story short, Kolek is entering today's start against the Redbirds tossing very good baseball. The Cards are fortunate to be sending a starter to the mound today that can potentially match Kolek pitch for pitch. Can Dustin May continue his hot pitching this afternoon in an attempt to salvage the final game of this series? Will the Cardinal's offense find a way to get to Stephen Kolek? Will the Redbirds bullpen finally put it together today in Kansas City? Join Paul D. from the first pitch to the final out, with scheduled first pitch set for 1:10 PM CST at Kauffman Stadium.
