Ojai Raptor Center Patient Update: Bald Eagle 26-519 from Big Bear Lake "She continues to receive around-the-clock veterinary care. We're pleased to share that she has now been moved from our intensive care unit, where she required oxygen therapy, to one of our regular hospital care units. While this marks an encouraging milestone, she remains a very sick patient and continues to require intensive treatment and monitoring. This is an encouraging step forward, but it does not mean she is out of danger. We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support, encouragement, and kindness shown to our team throughout her care. Your messages on social media truly mean a great deal to all of us. As always, we kindly ask the public and members of the media to continue respecting our small team's time and allowing us to remain focused on patient care. Please refrain from calling, texting, emailing, or visiting our facility for updates. Sandy and Luna were last seen on camera in the area on 7/23. Though we cannot say for certain, it does look like they may have left the area on their great journey. Here is to a safe and successful life Sandy and Luna. Thank you for letting us get a peek into your lives! Shadow has been seen around the habitat daily. If the eaglets have moved on, Shadow has no reason to visit the nest or stay within the habitat. This would be considered his summer vacation, and he can hang out and perch wherever he is comfortable. Once Jackie is released from rehab she will be returned to her home in Big Bear near the nest. We do not know when that will happen. Ojai will make sure she is healthy, able to hunt and protect herself before her release. We are all concerned and curious about what the future holds for Shadow, only he knows. We can say that Shadow is loyal to his nest, territory and Jackie. He may decide to hold out for the long term, he may find a new mate, or he may even leave the Big Bear area. We can only observe, hope for the best and see what the outcome is.
