KU Kids Deanwood Virtual Tour - Affordable Child Care Center Located in Washington, DC. [mUKPZbL81ja]
DC Mayor Muriel Bowser awarded one of the available childcare spaces located at the Deanwood Recreation Center to Kiddie University. This award was made to assist in her administration’s initiative to provide 1,000 more high quality childcare and to make childcare costs more affordable and plentiful. Kiddie University was chosen as a result of their long-standing history and commitment to high quality childcare in the District of Columbia. Kiddie University’s sister company, KU KIDS Deanwood, was developed with the support of the Office of the Mayor, LIIF, DGS, and DPR. KU Kids Deanwood secured a $269,000 grant from the city to develop the program, which also accepts childcare subsidiary vouchers from low-income families. KU Kids is a state of the art DC childcare center (day care center), high-quality childcare center located inside of the Deanwood Community Center that will provide a Spanish-immersion program that incorporates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). KU Kids Deanwood offers spaces for infants and toddlers, preschool, and drop in services care when available. In addition, the Deanwood Recreation Center on-site amenities include the children’s library, state of the art indoor aquatic center, fitness center and gymnasium. KU Kids is enrolling 72 new students and hiring 20 new staff. In addition to their Spanish immersion and STEM programming, KU Kids Deanwood will have a unique “Social Club” in which parents, teachers, and community members plan about 10 events each year, incorporating health and safety best practices amid COVID-19.
