A magnitude 7.1 earthquake has hit northern Venezuela, near its capital, Caracas. According to the US Geological Survey, it struck at a depth of 13 kilometres. Residents in neighbouring Colombia also reported feeling tremors. The US Tsunami Warning System has issued a tsunami threat for Puerto Rico.
