In this video, I compare five major Social Security proposals and explain which ones could increase monthly benefits, improve COLAs, strengthen protections for widows and disability recipients, or help prevent the projected trust-fund shortfall. We examine: - The bipartisan PROMISE Act - The Bipartisan Social Security Commission Act - The Social Security 2100 Act - The Social Security Expansion Act - The Protecting and Preserving Social Security Act Which proposal offers the largest potential increase? Which bills address Social Securityβs long-term finances? Which proposals have bipartisan support? Which plans appear most likelyβor least likelyβto move through Congress? One proposal promises an increase of roughly $200 per month. Others focus on better cost-of-living adjustments, higher minimum benefits, survivor protections, disability relief, or requiring higher earners to contribute more. But here is the important warning: none of these bills has become law. Your current Social Security benefit has not changed, and an introduced bill is not the same as legislation that has passed Congress and been signed by the president. The real question is not only which bill sounds best. It is which proposal can attract enough support to passβand whether it would provide a meaningful increase while also protecting Social Security from future benefit reductions. Which matters most to you: a larger monthly check, a better COLA, or guaranteeing that full benefits remain available after 2032?
