Every Cape York adventure builds towards one moment… reaching the Tip of Australia. But what many travellers don’t realise is that the adventure doesn’t have to end there. Instead of turning around, we kept exploring and discovered a side of Cape York that completely surprised us. From the scenic Five Beaches Drive to the rich history of Thursday Island and Horn Island, every stop reminded us that there’s so much more to this incredible region than simply standing at Australia’s northernmost point. One of the biggest highlights of the trip was cruising through the Torres Strait to beautiful Roko Island. It was the perfect way to slow down after weeks of dusty tracks, river crossings and corrugations, and a reminder that some of the best experiences are often the ones most people never get to see. As our Cape York adventure came to an end, we found ourselves reflecting on just how much this trip had given us. Incredible landscapes, unforgettable people, lifelong memories and an adventure we’ll be talking about for years to come. Reaching the Tip of Australia was something we’ll never forget… …but in the end, it wasn’t our favourite part of Cape York.
