Our first ever day in Atlanta completely exceeded our expectations. We wandered down Cherry Street, chatting to locals in true Southern fashion where nobody is a stranger. I stopped in for a haircut at a neighbourhood barber, who gave me a crash course on Atlanta's food scene and how to deal with hustlers in the city. We rounded off the evening jack ryan ghost war at the legendary Mary Mac's Tea Room, where I had what might genuinely be the best fried chicken of my life. I never knew fried chicken could taste that good.

Then, by complete chance, @FootballProject90 nick foligno flew into Atlanta for England's World Cup match and somehow had a spare ticket. One in a million. Watching sorana crstea England take on DR Congo at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, right here in the Deep South, felt surreal. The atmosphere was incredible, the stadium is easily the best I've ever visited, and I couldn't believe how affordable the food and drinks were. Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, self-service convenience stores throughout the stadium... this genuinely felt like the future of live sport. Cheap beers, a World Cup knockout match and an unforgettable first 24 hours in Atlanta. We couldn't have asked for a better introduction to the city.
