🔴 LIVE Cardinals vs. Twins CARDS TRY TO SNAP 2 GAME SKID! - Play by Play & Reaction | Game 70 of 162 [xPHD65505Df]
This afternoon the St. Louis Cardinals (37-30) are back at Target field for game 2 of the three game series, facing off against the Minnesota Twins (32-29). With the very disappointing loss last night, the Redbirds are seeking to right the ship of their small two game losing streak. Furthermore after a fantastic MLB debut, Blaze Jordan is playing at 3rd and is hitting 6th in the Cardinals order this afternoon. Taking the ball this afternoon for the Redbirds is the LHP Matthew Liberatore (3-3, 4.48 ERA), who has clearly underperformed for much of the 2026. Both in regards to the lengths of his outings, and general lack of consistency keeping opposing lineups at bay. In Liberatore's previous start against the Cincinnati Reds, he only managed to go 4.1 IP and allowed 3 earned runs. However as effectively the two starter in the Cards rotation, it measures well short of realistic expectations for such a prominent portion of the Redbirds rotation. On the hill for the Twins is their starting LHP Connor Prielipp (2-4, 5.15 ERA), who over his first nine starts of the year has deeply underwhelmed as the season has gone on. In fact over his starts in the past month, he has surrendered 17 earned runs in 18.2 IP. In facing a very locked in Cardinals team this afternoon, Prielipp's deficiencies will come on full display if he is unable to become more economical with his pitch count, and fail to miss bats in the strike zone. Will Matthew Liberatore finally give the Cardinals the extended length of quality innings they reasonably expect? Can the Cardinals offense capitalize on a clearly struggling Prielipp this afternoon? Join Paul D. from the first pitch to the last out, with a scheduled first pitch at 1:10 PM CST at Target Field.
