The latest outlook from the Climate Prediction Center continues to show a high likelihood of El Nio developing later this year, with increasing chances for a strong or even very strong event by fall and winter.

Historically, strong El Nio winters can bring warmer-than-normal temperatures to parts of Alaska, along with a strong signal for drier-than-normal conditions across much of the state. While every El Nio is different, forecasters are closely monitoring ocean temperatures and long-range justin trudeau climate patterns as we head toward winter.

Watch the full update from Brian Brettschneider to learn more about what forecasters are seeing and what it could mean for Alaska in the months ahead. #alaskaweather #akwx #elnio
