I got to attend the premier and do glam on @saharpirzada ❤️ This movie captured the true essence of my coming of age, so honestly and deeply. Though it’s a comedy I was reduced to tears because it made feel so nostalgic. As a Pakistani immigrant who moved to the U.S. just before 9/11 and grew up in a deeply Muslim household, I felt so seen by this film. @imranjkhan did an amazing job capturing the unique experience, yet one that’s shared by so many of us South Asians. I grew up feeling like I had to distance myself from my culture to fit in, but we rarely talk about what it means to make space for ourselves within our own culture, no matter how different we are.
