Scheduled Execution (06/10/25): Anthony Wainwright – Florida Death Row – Murder of Carmen Gayheart [lPIe6yJCn9b]
Anthony Floyd Wainwright (54) is scheduled to be executed in Florida for the for the 1994 r**p and murder of Carmen Gayheart (23) after being abducted by Wainwright and Richard Hamilton from a Winn Dixie supermarket parking lot in Lake City, Florida. Hamilton, also sentenced to death, died on death row (found dead in his jail cell) in 2023 at age 59. UPDATE (JUNE 10, 2025): Death row inmate Anthon Wainwright (54) was executed this evening in Florida. His official time of death was 6:22pm local time. -- It is not clear what Wainwright said as his last words after being strapped to the gurney. Media witnesses are reporting that they were unable to hear it. Following is a statement he shared with his spiritual advisor, Rev. Dr. Jeff Hood: "I wanted to thank everyone who has supported my wife Samantha and I. It has truly been overwhelming. It has meant so much to us both. The court system is broken. Especially in Florida. Please continue the fight. Because I can promise you they are not going to let up. They will continue to murder if we continue to let it happen." Wainwright then spoke badly of attorney Baya Harrison before continuing: "To the family of Carmen Gayheart, I hope my death brings you peace and healing. To my friends and family, forgive everything that has happened to me. My beautiful wife Samantha, you are the love of my life. I'm so blessed we found each other. The years we have spent together have been beyond wonderful...they've been downright magical. Love is stronger than death and I know our love will last for eternity. I'm excited to join you in England, my love. My home. Where I belong. Finally, in the words of William Goldman: Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while." -- Florida D.O.C. has not released details of Wainwright's final meal. This post will be updated if that becomes available. -- This was the 6th execution in the state of Florida this year.
