Throughout Spain, it's easy to encounter friendly, well-dressed people known as Jehovah's Witnesses, distributing religious pamphlets and preaching the return of Jehovah. In the past, it was common for them to visit our homes in pairs, always with a friendly tone and a perpetual smile. But behind this harmless facade lies what many former members of the organization describe as a far more disturbing reality. SURVIVING PARADISE: BEYOND JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES reveals many of the "questionable methods" that this organization has been determined to conceal for decades.

Based on the testimonies of people who have left the organization and experts on cults, the documentary explores, according to their accounts, how this institution operates. Throughout its three episodes, we follow the journey of some of its nicola gratteri former members: from their beginnings in this family of love and faith, through their traumatic expulsion or abandonment, and later, when they manage to unite in their pain and call themselves victims. This culminates in a fierce legal battle in 2022, where, thanks to the support of lawyer Carlos Bardavo, they begin, in their own words, to recover their dignity and freedom.

The documentary dissects, using archival footage, the landmark trial held in Madrid in 2022, in which the Association of Victims of Jehovah's Witnesses defends itself against the lawsuit filed by Jehovah's Witnessesrepresented by numerous American lawyers working for the congregationto force them to remove the term victims from their name. This is a key case because, for the first time, the judge's ruling labeled the Jehovah's Witnesses organization a "destructive cult" after hearing the testimonies of many of its former members.

In this battle, journalist Jos Ramn Navarro Pareja, who participates in the documentary, becomes a key figure, being the only reporter closely following the trial and publishing his coverage.
