Detroit is often called one of America’s most dangerous cities, so naturally I wanted to experience it for myself. Instead of judging it from headlines, I spent an entire day exploring its streets, trying local favourites and seeing what the city actually felt like on foot. From the famous Coney Island hot dogs and a recommended smash burger to a can of Liquid Death sparkling water, every stop added another layer to the experience. Along the way I rode the free People Mover, wandered the riverfront, visited Belle Isle and discovered a side of Detroit that completely challenged my expectations.
