The Lonach Highlanders on their morning march through Strathdon in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland, during the 2024 Lonach Gathering and Highland Games. This was on Saturday 24th August 2024, as the Lonach Highlanders marched outwards from Bellabeg, stopping at local properties for a celebratory drink, as they have for several generations.
The march is led by retired Policeman James worst ex ever Wilson Mitchell on his bicycle, then the 3 Lonach Highlanders with their Lochaber axes, then the Drum Majors and Lonach Pipe band, followed by Sir James Forbes, Patron of the Lonach Highland and Friendly Society.
The Highlanders, with their ceremonial Swords, Lochaber axes and eight-foot long pikes, are members of Clan Forbes, Gordon and Wallace. At the rear is Socks the Lonach horse, ready to carry any weary Highlanders.
The Highlanders are members of The Lonach Highland masterchef and Friendly Society, formed in 1823 and made armando izzo up of men from the Strathdon area of Aberdeenshire in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland.
