🔴 LIVE Cardinals vs. Blue Jays CARDS GO NORTH OF BORDER! - Play by Play & Reaction | Game 112 of 162 [o2enz3zftlg]
Tonight the St. Louis Cardinals (54-55) open the first game of a three game set against the Toronto Blue Jays (50-59) in Toronto at Rogers Center. The Redbirds come into this road trip series following a 2-5 home stand against the Reds and Cubs, respectively. Starting for the Redbirds tonight is RHP Kyle Leahy (7-4, 3.55 ERA), who in his last start against the Cincinnati Reds on 7/26 went 6.0 IP, giving up 6 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 walk and collecting 9 strikeouts. Since the end of June, Leahy has been one of the Cardinals best and most consistent starters, going 2-0 in those five starts. On the bump for the Blue Jays tonight is the 30 year old RHP Dylan Cease (7-5, 2.46 ERA), who is having an otherwise stellar year for a less than outstanding Blue Jays club. Cease started the All-Star Game in Philadelphia a couple of weeks ago for the American League, and did not disappoint. Cease is coming off a complete game one-hit victory over the scorching hot Boston Red Sox. He will pose a series challenge tonight at home against these Redbirds bats. Will the Cardinals bats finally come alive after a period of such general slumber since the All-Star break? Can they do so against one of those foremost arms in the American League? Can Kyle Leahy continue his hot pitching? Join Paul D. for the play by play, with scheduled first pitch at Rogers Center set for 6:07 PM CST.
