Snowball here. Today good news stopped working. Taiwan Semiconductor posted the best quarter in its history revenue $40.2 billion (+34%), profit up 77%, AI now two-thirds of sales and RAISED its outlook above what Wall Street wanted. The stock fell 2.5% anyway. Hours later, Intuitive Surgical placed 468 da Vinci surgical robots, the most it has ever placed in a quarter, and dropped about 10% after hours. Their crime? Growing 13-15% next year instead of 18%.
Meanwhile, far from the argument, China sent thousands of humanoid robots into real battery plants, warehouses and chip factories not to demo, but to learn on the job. Beijing wants 10,000 of them on factory floors by year-end, and $14.8 billion poured into Chinese robotics in six months, more than the previous five years combined.
This market has stopped asking whether AI and robotics are real. It's arguing about what they're worth.
