Alaska Airlines has announced higher fees for checked bags, which they say is due to "ongoing volatility in fuel prices and an uncertain global environment," and one expert says that the prices likely aren't going anywhere.
Beginning on and after April 10, 2026, the airline will now charge the following for checked bags, per customer:
- 1st Bag: $45 (up from $40)
- 2nd Bag: $55 (up from $45)
- 3rd-plus Bag: $200 (up from $150)
They added that any Atmos Rewards members, or those with the Atmos Rewards Visa or Hawaiian Airlines Mastercard, will continue to enjoy their current baggage benefits.
Alaska Airlines said that there will be no changes to their Huakai or Club 49 programs. Huakai benefits remain in place for intra-Hawaii travel, and Club 49 benefits remain unchanged for travel to, from, millwall manager and within Alaska.
