Jahmyr Gibbs was a quiet kid born in Dalton, Georgia. He was primarily raised by his grandmother, Angela Willis, you kept him safe and on the right path. Money was an issue, however, and they frequented homeless shelters and food banks. A couple, Dusty and Greg Ross, volunteered at one of the shelters and really took a liking to Jahmyr, who played football with their son. In 2017, they adopted Jahmyr. With that stability and the wisdom he learned from his grandmother, he had all of the tools he needed to make a name for himself in the Georgia high school football circuit. It wasn't until his senior year, that power five schools took notice. Teams like Alabama, LSU, and Ohio State were interested in Gibbs. Ultimately, he decided to go to Georgia Tech, staying close to home. He quickly became their star athlete. After two seasons with Georgia Tech, he decided to transfer to Alabama, wanting to play against elite SEC defenses. Just like at Georgia Tech, Jahmyr proved that he could compete with the nation's best. He was then drafted by the Detroit Lions at number 12 overall. The media pundits and "experts" all claimed that the Lions made a mistake drafting Gibbs that early. They said he wasn't worth the value. They said that they picked him too high in the draft. The Detroit Lions knew exactly what they were doing, however. They slowly eased Gibbs into their offense and he shared snaps with another dominate running back, David Montgomery. Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery became best friends and brothers off of the field. They are now regarded as the best running back duo in the league. In week 7, Jahmyr Gibbs scored his first NFL touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens. It wasn't until week 8 where he had his breakout game. The rest is history. Jahmyr Gibbs is now regarded as one of the best running backs in the NFL. And now, all of the people who doubted him being drafted that high are now eating their own words.
