Welcome back to Supergroup Saturday! Last week I continued to ruffle feathers by using the word supergroup again... Well, if ever there was a band that deserved the title, surely, it's Neurotic Outsiders? Originally formed by Matt Sorum for what was supposed to be a one-off gig at The Viper Room in 1995, the line-up featured: Steve Jones (Sex Pistols) John Taylor (Duran Duran) Duff McKagan (Guns N' Roses) Matt Sorum (The Cult / Guns N' Roses) That gig led to a regular Monday night show at The Viper Rooms which became so popular that the band were eventually offered a record deal, leading to the release of their only studio album. Even more impressively, every member of the band is now a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, as is producer Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads. The album wasn't officially released on vinyl until Record Store Day 2025, so for years this unofficial 2018 pressing was the closest vinyl collectors could get.
