Where Gary Stevenson gets the Inequality Debate Wrong [4FsTp6CQ4Ua]
What is really driving inequality in Britain? @garyseconomics Channel 4 documentary has sparked an important national conversation. I was invited to take part but decided against it because I wanted enough time to explain my views properly, not through a handful of edited TV clips. Gary and I agree on one thing: Britain has become too unequal. Where we disagree is why. I don't believe Britain's biggest problems are simply about how wealth is shared. I believe they're about how wealth is created and how the country is managed. Housing, productivity, taxation and government competence all play a huge role in determining living standards and economic opportunity. If we want a wealthier, fairer Britain, we need to ask not just how we redistribute wealth, but how we create more of it in the first place. I'd genuinely welcome the opportunity to discuss these ideas with Gary in a long-form conversation where we can test our arguments against the evidence. What's the biggest cause of inequality in Britain today? Is it wealth distribution, housing, productivity, government policy, or something else? I'd be interested to hear your view. #garystevenson #inequality #economics #ukpolitics #uk
