👀 🚨 On at least one public investor/earnings call, Palantir’s CEO #AlexKarp made a controversial remark about the company’s role in conflict, including the idea that their technology can help “kill enemies.” Karp said: “Palantir is here to disrupt and make the institutions we partner with the very best in the world and, when it’s necessary, to scare enemies and, on occasion, kill them.” 🥷🏻 Palantir, as a U.S.-based company, falls under the jurisdiction of U.S. laws like the USA PATRIOT Act. Canadian data in these systems mean U.S. federal agencies can access our records and information. Peter Thiel, the founder was an associate of #Epstein. Palantir is especially known for supporting U.S. intelligence and defense agencies, including the #CIA, #FBI, Department of Defense, and military operations, as well as law enforcement agencies like #ICE. 🍁 As a #Canadian, I am not comfortable with our governments using ANY of Palantir's big data and surveillance products. Yet, federal and local governments have given HUGE contracts to #Palantir. 😱 In March 2020, the Department of National Defence (DND) entered into a contract with Palantir Technologies Canada Inc. for use of its Gotham software for information sharing, data processing, and analytics. This contract was reported to be worth about $14.4 -million CAD. The department has said Palantir did not access Canadian data itself, and the tools were run inside protected environments. I don't find this comforting at all. 👮🏻♂️ The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has confirmed it uses Palantir’s software (specifically Gotham) for integrating and analyzing data to support criminal investigations and intelligence work. The force has not publicly shared specific details of how it’s deployed, but this marks one of the most visible #Palantir uses by a major Canadian police service. ✒️ The Palantir contract was initiated and signed by the Ontario Provincial Police itself as an operational decision — meaning it was handled at the police force level rather than being centrally negotiated by a ministry. The Ontario government and the #OPP have kept details of the contract confidential, citing the need to protect law‑enforcement and investigative techniques. 🔏 When privacy advocates and journalists sought the contract through access‑to‑information requests, the Ministry of the Solicitor General declined to release the document. ⛰️ Calgary Police Service has also used Palantir #Gotham to combine data from things like dispatch calls and records systems to assist in analysis (though not all predictive capabilities are always enabled). 👮🏻♂️ The Calgary Police Service purchased Palantir Gotham software (first around 2012/2013) to use as a data‑integration and analysis tool.
