In February of 2022, WNBA star Brittney Griner was detained severe thunderstorm watch in Moscow. Over the next 10 months, the 6'9" basketball player lived in three different Russian prisons and endured miserable conditions while on trial. A trial that was rigged to give her a lengthy prison sentence and bolster her usefulness as a political pawn. During her gulag vacation, Brittney forged friendships, cut off her hair, and sergeant ate like the British. Meanwhile, two enemy governments attempted to negotiate a prisoner exchange to free Brittney, but not without the inclusion of infamous arms dealer Viktor Bout, also known as The Merchant of Death. All this because the WNBA is poor.
