NYC mayor Mamdani reaffirms decision not to participate in Israel Day Parade [iUh5oLYAA8a]
New York City's Mayor Zohran Mamdani re-stated he would not attend the Israel Day Parade, set for this Sunday. This will be the first time since its launch in 1964 that NYC's mayor will not be present during the event. "I have made my views on the Israeli government abundantly clear," said mayor Mamdani during a presser at the NYPD's headquarters, standing next to the City's Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, who is Jewish and will attend the Parade. Mamdani added he has a responsibility "to ensure the safety and security of each and every New Yorker” and that he does not believe his "presence as the mayor should determine whether or not a New Yorker is safe or secure."
