Severe weather and dangerous heat possible for Midstate, Southern Kentucky [FZm9YaBLmyK]
FOX 17 News is in a Code Red Weather Alert for possible strong to severe thunderstorms Friday and Saturday. Dangerous heat moves into the forecast early next week. Another hot and humid day on tap for Friday with highs in the low 90s. Look for isolated thunderstorms through the afternoon and early evening. Areas north of I-40 are in a marginal risk, Level 1/5. A few of these storms could bring a damaging wind threat with them. The far northern areas of our northern counties in Southern Kentucky are in a slight risk, Level 2/5. Storms in this area have a small possibility of rotation and a spin-up tornado cannot be ruled out. More storms are possible Saturday morning through early evening. While we could see a few strong storms, the risk remains low. Main threats would be wind and heavy rain. Highs will climb into the upper 90s by early next week. We could see a few days at 100.
