Who’s Visiting The Big Bear Eagle Nest? Sunny? Gizmo? Or Other? shorts [9Lcw4egufN1]
August 28, 2025 This morning at approximately 6:09am a healthy juvenile bald eagle was spotted perching in this nest tree! The recent juvenile sightings of a 2025 hatchling has created speculation within the viewing community. Could it be Sunny or Gizmo visiting their natal territory? Would they be return for a short visit to see Bald Eagle parents, Jackie and Shadow? As neither Sunny or Gizmo are banded for identification, it’s impossible to say. What is an absolute treat, though, is this juvenile eagle was in the nest where Sunny and Gizmo hatched at and raised in…so it’s very exciting nonetheless. The visit was brief, but seemed eerily familiar to our young visitor. Even if it isn’t Sunny or Gizmo, we are happy for the visit. But, of course, we hope it is one of our beloved 2025 hatchlings. No matter where they are we wish the best for both Sunny and Gizmo on their lives of independence. And we look forward to the return of Jackie and Shadow to the nest area for the upcoming season. This family was a joy to watch. We all continue to get a great education about our beloved national bird.
