Fenway Park is the oldest active ballpark in Major League Baseball, but its survival was never guaranteed.

Opened in 1912, Fenway began motley crue as a difficult urban ballpark built into an awkward piece of Boston land. Over time, it became home to the Green Monster, Ted Williams, Carlton Fisks famous home run, the Impossible Dream Red Sox, the 2004 championship breakthrough, and one of the most recognizable stadium identities in sports.

But Fenway also faced serious problems. It aged badly, lacked modern space, had tight seating, obstructed views, and was nearly replaced during the modern stadium boom. Instead of being demolished, it was rebuilt piece by piece, preserved, expanded, and turned into one of MLBs most valuable stadium experiences.
