Maybe it took finally trying on a pair of cargo sneakers to realize it, but I think I'm over the Demna Balenciaga aesthetic. It's tough to admit, because I love the brand and it means a lot to me in my fashion journey, but in terms of the things I'm interested in, where I want to take my style and how I see the industry shifting overall, I don't know if I have room in my heart (or, frankly, my closet) any more to accommodate what will amount to... expensive paper weights. What good is clothing you don't feel like wearing? At the same time, I feel like I'm not alone. With the new creative direction under Pierpaolo Piccioli signaling a subtle shift in the brand's evolution and Demna himself seemingly no longer interested in 'oversized' fits, fans of the brand are saying it's dead. Maybe it's time we all moved on? The fashion industry by nature will always shift and evolve. What do you guys think?
