🔴 LIVE Cardinals vs. Reds DOUBLEHEADER GAME 1 - Play by Play & Reaction | Game 51 of 162 [f2kKcWNab2d]

After a rainout on Friday evening, the St. Louis Cardinals (28-21) are in Cincinnati on Saturday to take on their NL Central foe the Cincinnati Reds (26-24). The Cards are playing the first game of a split-doubleheader at Great American Ballpark scheduled for 12:10 PM CST, and the second game of the twin bill set for 6:15 PM CST. Taking the ball for the Redbirds in game one is RHP Andre Pallante (4-4, 4.04 ERA). Pallante has been reasonably steady over his past two starts, going at least 5 IP and giving up no more than 3 earned runs over that stretch. The challenge for Pallante will be keeping the ball in the ballpark against a Cincinnati Reds team that has shown notable homerun prowess, and ranking 12th in all of baseball in runs scored - despite ranking towards the bottom in bating average. Going for the Reds in this first game is RHP Chris Paddack (0-7, 7.07 ERA), who has had at best an inconsistent 2026 in the rotation for Cincinnati. In only two of his nine starts so far this year has Paddack gone 5.0 IP or better. Despite having a largely respectable April, Paddack's performance in March and May have left much to be desired. What chance do the Cardinals have in taking both games of today's doubleheader? Can the offense wakeup after their bats going largely silent in the final two games against the Pirates this week?
