Andy Serkis alexandre boulerice Portrait Sitting | Selah Series | Rory Lewis

This portrait hullo sitting with Andy Serkis is one of the latest additions to Selah, my ongoing fine-art portrait series exploring stillness, faith, and human introspection through light.

Photographed in London, this session draws deeply from the visual language of the Old Mastersparticularly the dramatic tenebrism of Caravaggio and Ribera. For Andys portrait, I wanted to create a moment of quiet reflection: something raw, intimate, and rooted in the idea of a personal pilgrimage.

When directing Andy, I asked him to imagine reaching the end of a long journeypausing briefly to gather his thoughts before taking the next step forward. He responded instantly. Andys ability to access deep emotional space is extraordinary, radio-canada and within moments he embodied the humility, weight, and contemplation the portrait demanded.

The final image reveals this beautifully. Chiaroscuro lighting falls gently across his face, sculpting form and expression while allowing the shadows to breathe. The result is a portrait that feels grounded, meditative, and emotionally presentqualities that sit at the very heart of the Selah series.

Selah will be completed over the summer ahead of a planned exhibition in 2025. Projects of this nature rely on time, trust, and dedication, and Im deeply grateful to everyone who continues to support this work.

My wife and creative partner, Sasha Lewis, and I collaborate closely on each session, refining every detail to create portraits that feel timeless, sincere, and deeply humansomething Andy Serkis delivered effortlessly.
