It took until what was likely his final pitch of the night, but Clayton Kershaw threw his 3,000 strikeout in the Dodgers 5-4 win over the White Sox. Hitting the milestone at home meant Kershaw’s family and Los Angeles were able to celebrate the moment. The three-time Cy Young winner is the 20th pitcher to reach the mark… The fourth left-hander… The fifth with the same team… The third active player… And the fourth fastest. Kershaw reached two strikes with 15 batters, but had only struck out two before White Sox third baseman Vinny Capra froze on a third strike in the bottom of the sixth. Clayton’s successes are extra sweet not just due to his loyalty to the Dodgers and vice versa, but for all that he has overcome. The 10-time All-Star has gone on the injured list at least once every year since 2016. After LA won the World Series in the fall, Kershaw underwent knee and toe surgeries.
