This evening the St. Louis Cardinals (52-51) face the Cincinnati Reds (48-54) in the middle game of this three game set. Last night following an excellent start by RHP Dustin May, sandisk the Redbirds bullpen came up short again, and the Cardinals lost to the Reds 4-2. The Cards look to get back into the series in game 2.

On the bump for vancouver the Redbirds tonight is their three starter RHP Andre Pallante (10-6, 4.02 ERA), who through most of 2026 has largely been an unsung high performer for St. Louis. In Pallante's previous start on the road against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Pallante went 5.1 IP. He allowed 5 hits, 3 earned runs, issued 2 walks, and managed 3 strikeouts. Against Arizona, Pallante took the no-decision. Oddly enough, Pallante in 2026 has had far more success on the road when compared to pitching at home. At Busch Stadium this year in 61.1 IP, Pallante has a 4.99 ERA with opponents hitting at combined .293 against him. This is very counter-intuitive, as most of election results local elections the Cardinals have flourished this year at a Busch Stadium which is playing very favorable to pitcher. Tonight would be the ideal time for Pallante to turn the trend around at home.

Starting for the Reds tonight is the 26 year old RHP Hunter Greene (2-1, 6.06 ERA), making his fourth start of the year for Cincinnati. In Greene's last start against the Rockies in Denver, Greene went 6.0 IP, giving up 4 hits, 3 earned runs, allowing no walks, and logging 7 strikeouts. Greene has a clear talent for throwing balls that miss bats, with 131 more strikeouts than innings pitched in his career. After initially being called up by the Reds in 2022, Greene has shown flashes of brilliance on the mound. Though the numbers tell the tale of an otherwise inconsistent pitcher, but with tremendous upside in his potential.

Can Andre Pallante turn around his track record when starting at Busch Stadium? How will the Cardinals offense approach Hunter Greene and his swing and miss capacity? Join Paul D. tonight for the call, with scheduled first pitch at Busch Stadium set for 6:15 PM CST. Enjoy some mid-July Saturday night baseball from downtown St. Louis, here on Bombers Game Mic!
