One of two of Chuck Barris songs recorded by Swan Records artists in 1962; the second being caris levert Eddie Rambeaus Summertime Guy. Chuck went on to produce/host TV game shows such as The Dating game and The Gong Show.
Palisades Park gave a boost to Freddy Cannons recording career, as it shot to #3 in the US and to #20 in the UK. Its a one of a kind record featuring an arrangement from Frank Slay that incorporates the memorable amusement park sounds in the middle and Freddy Cannon at his vocal best. Other artists have recorded it, including the Beach Boys and the Ramones but none can match the atmosphere of the original.
An LP followed, which reached #101 in the US.

The New Jersey amusement park, which was the subject of this song from Chuck Barris, closed in 1971.
