Paralyzed by COVID Vaccine: An Interview with Julian After Almost 5 Years in the Wheelchair [AGsNoghjIbN]
In July 2021, our lives changed forever during a family boat trip on Okanagan Lake. Within two hours of feeling a slight tingling in his foot, he lost the ability to walk. Julian was later diagnosed with transverse myelitis (ADEM), a rare autoimmune reaction that causes severe spinal cord swelling—determined by neurologists to be a vaccine injury from the Pfizer vaccine. In this raw and honest interview, filmed in April 2026, Julian opens up about his five-year journey from being bedridden to mastering a wheelchair, navigating the Canadian Vaccine Injury Support Program (VISP/VIAP), managing chronic nerve pain, and reclaiming his passion for the outdoors through adaptive sports like sit-skiing and camping in our teardrop trailer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you love 4x4 adventures, overlanding, off-road exploration, scenic drives in British Columbia, BC backroads, Forest Service Roads, remote backcountry camping, teardrop trailer adventures, and accessible outdoor travel, come along as we explore the roads less traveled. Our journey is about proving that adventure doesn’t stop — it just adapts. After a life-changing spinal cord injury left Julian paralyzed, we continue exploring the outdoors through wheelchair camping, adaptive adventures, and wheelchair accessible travel. Through our experiences with wheelchair life, disability, resilience, hope, and inspiration, we share honest stories about camping, travel, and finding new ways to experience the places we love. From accessible campgrounds and BC Parks to scenic road trips, off-grid camping, and outdoor adventures across Canada, we hope our videos inspire others to get outside, embrace new challenges, and discover that life’s greatest adventures are still possible. Special thanks to Erick Thompson of @et2media for the interview.
