Weather Update | Heavy Rain in Karachi? Monsoon Spell Starts? SAMAA TV

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a nationwide alert, warning that pre-monsoon rains are expected across Pakistan from June 28 to July 3. Authorities say the combination of intense heat and rainfall could accelerate glacier melting, raising water levels in rivers and streams across Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The public has been advised to remain vigilant as the risk of flash floods, landslides, and glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) increases in vulnerable mountainous regions.

Residents, tourists, and travelers are urged to avoid unnecessary travel near rivers, streams, glacial lakes, and flood-prone areas, particularly in Hunza, Skardu, Chitral, Swat, Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Nagar, Shigar, Ghanche, and Kharmang.
