Weve come a long way from not knowing anything about Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregors mystery sci-fi movie The End of Oak Street. The first teaser confirmed dinosaurs would indeed be rampaging through a quiet neighborhood; the new trailer gives us more of that plus extra shrieking and family-focused survival tactics.

Hathaway blasting attacking dinosaurs makes us even more intrigued for this one, which comes from It Follows writer-director David Robert Mitchell and producer J.J. Abrams. And theres no new Jurassic World sequel on the calendar at the moment, so why not follow dinosaurs into some other setting for a change?

The official synopsis remains the same: After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown, the Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings.

After the confusion following the cosmic event, the scramble to survive will kick into high gearnot every neighbors going to make it, clearlybut therell also be a mystery revolving around exactly why this has happened, where the hell Oak Street has ended up, and whether or not things can ever return to normal again.

The End of Oak Street trailer came out of nowhere and left us with more questions than answers, which is exactly what sci fi horror auteur J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot Productions are known for.

Looking like some strange hybrid of Jurassic Park and Cloverfield, with a hint of Spielberg, we learned that the film begins after a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street out of suburbia and transports its neighborhood to an unknown place. The Platt family Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella, and Christian Convery soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings.

This new trailer is going full Jurassic Park in suburbia, using a voice-over to shed some new light on the mystery: Its been two years since Oak Street vanished without a trace, which leads me to believe this is some time-travel mishap.

Directed by It Follows filmmaker David Robert Mitchell, The End of Oak Street is in theaters everywhere on August 14, 2026.
