Oil depot burns even more intensely in Russian Engels, city declares state of emergency [k62GtrSMP2k]
The Defense Forces of Ukraine struck an oil depot in Engels, Saratov region, disrupting fuel supplies for Russia's strategic bombers used to launch missiles at Ukraine. A state of emergency has been declared in the city of Engels in the Saratov Region after a fire broke out on the territory of an industrial enterprise following an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles. It is reported that other missions in the city are not in danger, and the smoke from the fire is blowing in the opposite direction from the residential areas of Engels, thanks to the wind. A former firefighter who knew both of the Emergencies Ministry employees who died while extinguishing the fire at the Engels oil depot told 164RU media outlet what happened at the scene of the emergency. According to him, judging by the information he collected, a fuel tank at the oil depot became depressurized. The former firefighter said that the depressurization resulted in a fuel spill, which Governor Roman Busargin called “an increase in the area of the fire at the industrial plant.” Accordingly, the fire spread instantly. The guys did not have time to leave the danger zone from where the fire spread, and died, — the former employee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said. According to him, extinguishing fires in oil dams is often associated with increased danger to personnel, and the fact that the fire started with an explosion from outside greatly complicates the tasks for firefighters. “This is one of the most serious fires I can remember. The fire got more complicated at the time of the spill, and there are still tanks there. I don’t know, if they have already carried out a foam attack and nothing worked, then now they only need to cool the neighboring tanks, if they still have fuel, and prepare a new foam attack. Maybe they will put it out tomorrow, although oil fires can take 10 days to put out. It’s definitely more difficult at night. And the guys are probably tired there” the former firefighter said.As reported earlier, the attack on the Russian oil depot was confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is noted that the oil storage base "Kombinat Kristall" supplied fuel to the military airfield "Engels-2", where the enemy's strategic aviation is based.
