Fans sang, waved flags and set off fireworks as the team buses moved through the crowds. Ariel Palombi, Felipe Romero and Nisela Torterolo spoke of their pride in Lionel Scalonis team, thanked Lionel Messi and praised the players for never giving up.
Ferran Torres scored the winning goal in the 106th minute as Spain claimed their second mens World Cup title. Argentina finished as runners-up after reaching a second consecutive World Cup final.
